This beautiful girl is my best friend and sister. Her name is Zoe. She was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma cancer on May 7 th, 2010. She was honestly the most amazing sister a guy like me could ask for.  She was the girl that everyone gravitated to.  Her beauty and bright personality could light up a room, and oddly enough she never seemed to notice this. She went through so much in the year of 2010, having almost 12 surgeries and more rounds of chemotherapy and radiation than I can count. It showed a lot about what kind of girl she was, and how much of a fighter there was deep down inside her kind heart. But sometimes you win the battle and lose the war.  Zoe lost the fight on February 13, 2011. two months ago today. Exactly two months ago at around 11 am I was in a hospital room watching a nurse Zoe had become very close with turn off the flat lined heart monitor and remove the wires from her frighteningly tiny arms, all the while trying not to cry as much as my family and I were. It’s a day that will forever be burned in the back of my mind, and will always constitute as one of the worst days of my life. In those last few days she wasn’t my baby sister.  The light in her eyes were gone, and the smile she had somehow been able to keep for so long wasn’t visible. Zoe inspired so many people on tumblr with her crazy and sometimes out there posts, and I know you guys miss her as much as my family and I do.  She may have been three months into her battle with cancer when this photo of her was taken, but you would never know it, would you? I see so many posts about teens with cancer on this site, and I see a little piece of Zoe in every single one. It would mean a lot to me if you guys could reblog this to show that not every cancer survivor wins the war. She may not be here anymore, but she’s still in so many peoples’ hearts.
